Occupational Therapy Programs for Mental and Physical Health
CONCRETE METHODS TO IMPROVE DAY-TO-DAY LIFE
AAPP’s Occupational Therapy programs for mental and physical health encourage the client to be proactive by improving his/her physical endurance, cognitive capacities, and self-confidence. As a result, the client learns to structure his/her routine and receives psychological education to alter the negative thoughts that affect day-to-day functioning. These interventions are based on the PGAP (Progressive Goal Attainment Program) approach, the cognitive-behavioral approach and rehabilitation counselling, among others.
LEARNING TO FEEL BETTER, ONE STEP AT A TIME
With the guidance of the experienced Occupational Therapists, the client develops the necessary abilities for a successful return to work:
- Emotional management
- Energy management
- Stress management
- Problem-solving strategies
- Improvement of sleep hygiene
RETURN TO WORK
A personalised return-to-work plan is then created by the Occupational Therapist. It entails a gradual increase in the complexity of work tasks and schedule, and implements accommodations to favor the long-term success of the return to work.
