Occupational Therapy for Mental Health

AAPP is a work rehabilitation clinic that has been established for over 35 years. Above all, it is distinguished by its proactive multidisciplinary approach. This focuses on the client’s needs and is adapted to their work environment. Our Occupational Therapists have over 12 years of experience in mental health reactivation programs. With this blog, our goal is to provide you with simple strategies to build and maintain a structured routine and optimize day-to-day functioning.

Putting these tools and strategies in place is key to maintaining a balanced lifestyle. In order to maintain mental health, it is important to engage in different self-care activities throughout the day, whether at home or at work. For guidance from one of our experienced Occupational Therapists,  book an appointment here.

Throughout the Occupational Therapy program, the client is encouraged to be proactive. This is done by improving their physical endurance, cognitive capacities, and self-confidence. As a result, the client learns to structure their routine. They also receive psychological education to help alter the negative thoughts that affect their day-to-day functioning. These interventions are based on the PGAP approach, the cognitive-behavioral approach, and rehabilitation counselling, among others..

With the guidance of an Occupational Therapist, the client develops the tools to:

  • Manage emotions
  • Manage energy
  • Problem-solve
  • Manage stress
  • Improve sleep hygiene
  • estime de soi / self-esteem
